Duoende aims to find a common language between two apparently very different worlds: Giulia Grassi’s classical piano and the folk sound of Francesco Berrafato’s diatonic accordion.

Through both the composition of original repertoire and the arrangement of folk songs and dances as well as classical pieces the duo works on the search for an innovative timbre given by the combination of these two instruments and historical contexts.

Duœnde’s compositions aim to rapresent a dialogue between the genres and also a juxtaposition between the structure of Western classical music and the freedom and circularity of folk music.

Instrumental and vocal improvisation together with an experimental approach to the instruments  play a fundamental role in both creative process and live performance.
